Richard Clarence Berger Sr.

Richard C. Berger Sr., age 76, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Fisher-Titus Medical Center. He was born on February 20, 1950, in Norwalk, to the late Ralph and Lillian (Holmes) Berger. Richard graduated from Milan High School in 1968, the year before it became Edison High School.

Richard honorably served his country as part of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a past Officer, and past Post Commander, at the Norwalk V.F.W. Post 2743. Richard loved life, his family, and anything that included airplanes, the Air Force, or the V.F.W. He enjoyed air shows, and bingo nights, and had worked for Walgreens and Meijers.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Marlene Berger; stepdaughter, Susan Schindler; stepson, David Schindler; granddaughter, Crystal Wilke and step granddaughter, Amanda; great grandchildren, Daniel, Cheyenne, Emma, Scarlet and Willow; special nieces and nephews and many great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Richard “Richie” C. Berger Jr.; sisters, Lois McGinn, and Nancy Graham; and brothers, Paul and Raymond Berger.

A visitation for Richard will be held on Friday May 22, 2026, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, also at the funeral home, beginning at 11 a.m. followed by burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, with military honors being conducted.
