Richard Thomas Churpek, 71, of Wellington, died Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the Elms Retirement Village in Wellington. Born to Thomas and Rose Churpek on July 10, 1940, Richard grew up on the South side of Cleveland and moved to Wellington in the early 1980s.
Richard worked at J & L and L.T.V. Steel factories. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching football.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Anna; children, Joanne Marie Tisler, of Coshocton, Anthony John (Janis) Strojin, of Sullivan; grandchildren, Johanna (John) Treadway, Laura Strojin, Jessica Tisler, Amy Strojin, Peter Tisler, Megan Strojin, Kaitlin Strojin, Tony Strojin; 4 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Richard is also survived by a brother, Davey Churpek, of Lakewood and a sister, Martha Churpek, of California. He was preceded in death by siblings, Phillip, Donnie and Nancy.
Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 7 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington. There will be a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday October 8 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 512 N. Main St., Wellington with Father James Reymann officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Brookpark.
