Richard "Dick" Crawford passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 24, 2017 at his home. He was 90. Dick was born August 27, 1926 in Ashland, OH, the son of the late Henry and Ethna (Landis) Crawford. After graduating from Ruggles High School in 1944, he served in the United States Navy from December 1945 to June 1946. He had farmed all of his life. Dick was at the center of many neighborhood gatherings at his home, playing baseball, football and shooting pool. He appreciated wildlife and enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially squirrel and coon. He was a member of the American Legion Post 88 Harry Higgins in Ashland. Dick is survived by his wife of 64 years, Barbara; children, Sue Ann Crawford, James W. (Monica) Crawford, Rose Marie Crawford and Russell (Brenda) Crawford; 10 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Patricia Crawford; son, Robert Vernon Crawford; brothers, Robert "Bill" Crawford and Jim Crawford; sister, Evelyn Clymer; brother-in-law, Ted Bantz and mother-in-law, Ann Hunter. A memorial visitation will be held from 2-4 pm on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Eastman Funeral Home in New London. Memorial contributions in Dick's honor can be directed to the donor's choice.
