Richard G. "Dick" Doughty, 88, of Norwalk, Ohio, died early Wednesday morning, October 22, 2025, at Fisher-Titus Medical Center. He was born on September 6, 1937, in Norwalk, Ohio, to the late Frank and Agnes (Wise) Doughty and was a lifelong area resident. He was a faithful member of St. Paul Catholic Church where he married his loving wife, Joanne, in 1964.
Dick will be remembered for his service, commitment, and love for his country, family, community, and church. He served in the United State Army. Dick, who graduated from St. Paul in 1956, was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame along with his wife for their outstanding volunteer service to the Church and school. He was a member of the Norwalk Eagles Aerie #711, the St. Paul Boosters Club, and Bronson Conservation Club.
He especially enjoyed supporting his children and grandchildren in all of their school and church activities. He enjoyed following the Browns, Indians (later Guardians), Ohio State, and the Flyers. Dick was a mechanic for the City of Norwalk, and for George Friend and his race cars along with working at the St. Paul Cemetery.
Dick is survived by his children, Brenda (Todd) Careless, Mark (Linda) Doughty, and Tracy (Michael) Juby; grandchildren, Bradley Doughty (Kaleigh Jurcisek), Jessica Doughty (Joshua Thompson), Dustin (Alyssa) Jesberger, Connor (Lisa) Careless, Carson Careless, Emily Juby, Catherine Juby, Nathan (Olivia) Juby, and Abby Juby; great granddaughters, Halle, and Eirene; great grandson, Aster; sisters in-law, Marilyn Baker, Ruth Beach and Carol Ommert; as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joanne (Earl) Doughty, in 2012; sisters, Margaret (and Robert) McDonald and Anna Mae (and Charles "Chuck") Obermiller; brother, Charles "Bud" (and Florence "Flossie") Doughty; brothers in-law, William Ommert and Ronald Baker and great granddaughter, Harmony.
Friends and family may call on Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, October 31, 2025, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 East Main St., Norwalk. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery with military honors.
