Richard William Leach, 51, of Huntington Twp., died Thursday, September 9, 2010 from complications of a stroke. Born to Ronald and Doris Leach, Sr. on July 22, 1959 in Lorain, Richard lived in the Wellington area for the past 25 years and graduated with the Firelands High School Class of 1978. He proudly served his country as a sailor in the Navy.
Richard recently celebrated working 25 years at Owens Corning in Medina, Ohio. He also loved camping, fishing, bonfires and grilling. He liked going to the movies and especially enjoyed visits from his family and friends; Richard was a very hospitable man ' his house was always open to others. Most importantly, he cherished his kids and was very supportive of them. He enjoyed watching his children in the sports they were involved in.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Cheryl (nee Slovak); children, Joshua (Ernestine) Leach of Los Angeles, CA and Morgan Leach, at home; siblings, Ronald (Rita) Leach, Jr., Sandra Ritchie, Karen (Woody) Ward, Edward (Elaine) Leach, Thomas (Michelle) Leach; 18 nieces and nephews and several great nieces and great nephews. Richard was also eagerly awaiting the arrival of a grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Breya Michelle in 2005 and his aunt and uncle who raised him, Buck and Teeny Sponsler.
Visitation will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, September 12 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington, where Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Larry Nocella officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to the family in care of the funeral home.
