Richard Dwayne McNeely, 73, of Wellington, died Friday, July 31, 2026, at home surrounded by family. Born on June 14, 1953, in Madison, WV, he was the son of the late Eugene and Marlene (nee Holton) McNeely. Rich, as he was known by most, moved to Elyria as a child and was a 1972 graduate of Elyria High School. He made his home in Wellington in 2001.
Following graduation, Rich trained to become a Journeymen Millwright. He worked for York until it closed in 2001. Rich was an antique car enthusiast, collecting and working on numerous cars and trucks. He enjoyed camping and hunting and especially taking trips to West Virginia to fish for trout. Most of all Rich cherished his time spent with family, especially with his grandson Lincoln.
Rich is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Debra (nee Hylton); sons, Rick McNeely and Daniel McNeely, both of Wellington; grandson, Lincoln; a sister, Gina McNeely, of GA; as well as several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved. In addition to his parents, Rich was preceded in death by his sister Sandy Zadamsky.
Friends and family will be received on Monday, August 3, 2026, from 2 p.m. until the time of services beginning at 4 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main Street, Wellington. Expressions of sympathy may be shared online at www.norton-eastmanfuneralhome.com.
