Obituary

Richard E. 'Curly' Morris, 74, of Willard, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at home with his loving family by his bedside. He was born April 11, 1937 (a birthday he coincidently shared with his wife) in New London to the late Richard E. and Mildred (Manes) Morris. A Delphi resident since 1941, Curly graduated from Greenwich High School in 1955. During high school, he played basketball and later became an avid fan of high school basketball. Curly worked at the Renaissance House in Norwalk until his retirement in 2002. He also worked over 20 years for Rotary Printing in Norwalk. Curly farmed all his life, raising many different animals; his main farming interest was sheep. He attended the Foundation Church in Norwalk. Curly was very active with 4-H as a leader and as a superintendent of the Junior Fair sheep barn at the Huron County Fair. He ran the chains on the sidelines for South Central Football for many years. His greatest joys were his faith, family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie, of 51 years; son, Steve (Beth) Morris, of Greenwich; daughter, Michelle Morris, of Willard; grandchildren, Megan Morris and Ryan Morris Robles, both of Willard; and siblings, Myrtle Davis, of Florida, Joyce (Denny) Meyers, of Mansfield and Alvin (Nancy) Morris, of South Carolina. Curly was preceded in death by his son, Richard 'Richie' Morris, in 1975, father and mother-in-law, Hager and Nora Purcell and brothers-in-law, Gerald D. Lillo and Robert Hillman. Visitation will be Saturday, July 16 from 4-9 p.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 49 W. Main St., Greenwich. Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Ripley Church, 4130 South Edwards Road, Greenwich with Pastor Bob Hudberg and Pastor Eric Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, New Haven. Memorial donations, if desired, can be made to the Morris family in care of Eastman Funeral Home. The Morris family wishes to give special thanks to Stein Hospice for their outstanding care.
