Richard Plain, 73, of Wakeman and formerly of Cleveland, died Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at the Cleveland Clinic. Born in Cleveland on July 14, 1937, Richard was the oldest child of the late Arnold K. and Helen (nee Hasko) Plain. He attended Cleveland Trade School.
Richard co-owned Plain Brothers Auto Service in Cleveland and owned Country Stage Campground in Nova for 16 years. He belonged to Westlake Yacht Club and enjoyed gardening and camping. Richard was an amateur cook who loved making delicious meals for family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Nancy (nee Curtis); children, Deborah Ruth Carey, Richard John Plain, Vicky Lynn Carey, Lisa Helen Calhoun and Scott Andrew (Amie Sherar) Plain; siblings, Gary (Sandy) Plain, Karen (Dick) Fisher and Kathy (Jack Popp) Plain; grandchildren, Patrick Carey, Carl (Brandi) Carey, Jessica Sue Carey, Crystal Plain, R.C. Plain, Amanda Plain, Ryan Carey, Christopher Carey, Abigail Adkins and Caleb Adkins; 3 great grandchildren, Paige, Jasmine and Ariana and he was proudly anticipating the birth of another great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carlene Fritz Nahm and son-in-law, Glenn Calhoun.
Visitation will be Friday, July 15, 2011 from 2-9 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington and Saturday from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 10 a.m. with Pastoral Minister Gayle Cilimburg officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon. In memory of Richard, donations can be made to the donor's favorite charity.
