Richard “Rick” Witmer, 68, of Ashland, passed away on June 2, 2026, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. Rick was born on February 24, 1958, in Ashland, Ohio, to the late Richard “Dick” and Edna (Watson) Witmer.

A graduate of Ashland High School, Rick developed his welding skills through the former Ashland County–West Holmes Career Center while still in school. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for ten years. Following his military service, Rick worked as a welder and later retired from Union Tank Car in Marion.

Rick enjoyed spending time outdoors with his family, especially camping, cooking over an open fire, four-wheeling, and driving mud trucks. He was also an avid fan of NASCAR and of Ohio State football.

He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Bonnie (Emerick) Witmer and her children, Stacey (Harvey) Zook and Brett (Breanna) Collins, both of Mansfield; and grandchildren, Juniper Zook, Bristol Collins, and Blake Collins.

In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his brother, Ed Witmer, as well as many beloved aunts and uncles.

A private burial has taken place at Clarksfield Cemetery. Eastman Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with the arrangements. Online condolences and expressions of sympathy may be shared by visiting www.eastmanfuneralhome.com
