Eastman Funeral Home 419-929-3781 Richard H. "Dick" Smith, 72, of Clarksfield, died Wednesday, September 18, 2013. He was born on April 5, 1941, in Nevada, Ohio, to the late Charles "Chuck" and Annabel Smith. Dick has resided in the New London area for over 50 years. He was a 1959 graduate of New London High School. Dick was a farmer and owned his own excavating business. He loved the outdoors, working, observing nature, fishing, hunting, and spending time with friends, family and neighbors. Survived by his children, Scott (Ann) McCague, Marc (Mercedes) Smith, Craig Smith and Kim (Chris) Gallagher; 5 grandchildren, and siblings, Geneva Secrist, Marilyn Keller and Charles Edwin "Ed" Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Jane Smith. Dick's family will greet friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, September 27, 2013 at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St,. New London where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will follow at Clarksfield Methodist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the New London Recreation Park, 115 E. Main St., New London, OH 44851.
