Norwalk, Ohio - Richard A. Wetzel, age 80, passed away peacefully in Norwalk, Ohio, on Sunday, February 28, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was born in Norwalk Ohio on January 21, 1936. He graduated from Norwalk High School in 1954 and proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. After his service, he had a successful 22-year career at Dixon Ticonderoga in Sandusky, Ohio. Richard was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend. He loved spending time with his family and friends, woodworking, traveling, and yard work. He was also an active participant in his church, Norwalk First United Methodist, as a trustee, church council member and choir member. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mildred Wetzel. He is survived by the love of his life, Patricia Wetzel to whom he was married 58 years; his sister, Janet Lewellen; his brother, John Wetzel (Dottie) his son, Kevin Wetzel (Julie); his daughter, Debbie Lasky (Charlie); grandchildren: Ryan Wetzel (Ashley), Heather McDaniel (Tyler), Jason Wetzel, Kaitlyn Buxman (Kyle), Alyssa Lasky; step-grandchildren: Erin Banks (Shawn), Brian Waggoner, Laura Waggoner (Ryan) and two great-grandchildren on the way. There will be visitation from 10-11:30, Saturday March 5, 2016 at Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main St. Norwalk, Ohio, with services immediately following.
