Robert K. "Bob" Rice, of Greenwich, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at The Willows at Willard. He was 96. Bob was born April 27, 1919, in Eaton, Ohio, son of the late Keith and Ella (Splete) Rice.
He graduated in 1937 from Eaton High School and received his Bachelor's Degree in Math and Science from Bowling Green State University in 1941. Right after graduation he married the love of his life Janet Crum of Greenwich. Bob served in the U.S. Navy Air Corp as a flight instructor during WWII. He taught math at Bloomville High School. He operated and later owned Crum's Hardware. Later he farmed his land in Fitchville and continued to love farming for many years. He and his wife Janet wintered many years in Bradenton, Florida.
Bob was a member and supporter of Greenwich United Methodist Church. He was also a mason and longtime member of the American Legion, and a proud American.
He loved to golf and fish.
Bob is survived by his daughters, JoAnn McCleery of Whitehouse and Susan (Jeffrey) Nagel of Whitehouse; grandchildren, Kelsey Queenan and Bob McCleery; great grandchildren, Nora McCleery, Elle McCleery and Logan Queenan and brother, Art (June) Rice of Ft Myers, Florida. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janet; son-in-law, Robert McCleery; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in Bob's name can be given to the Greenwich United Methodist Church, 18 East Main Street, Greenwich, Ohio 44837.
