Robert Eugene Dee, Sr., age 79, of New London died Thursday, June 28, 2007 at his home, surrounded by his family after a lengthy illness. He was born March 9, 1928 in Hartford City, Indiana, son of the late Tim and Thelma (Fuller) Dee. He was a 1946 graduate of Hartford City High School. He played football and baseball in High School and was captain of both teams, he played softball after graduation. Mr. Dee worked at his fathers grocery store while growing up in Hartford City. He worked for Overhead Door Corp. in Hartford City, Indiana and Carol Stream, Illinois. He moved to New London in 1970. He then went to work for Whiting Roll Up Door Corp of Akron, New York having retired in 1996. His sales career took him all over the United States. He was a member of Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church, New London. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he held several offices, and was past president of Our Lady Of Lourdes Parish Council. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Casterline) Dee, whom he married in 1949; 2 sons, Robert Dee, Jr. of New London and Greg (Cathy) Dee of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; 2 daughters, Nancy (Rick) Copsey of Ludington, Michigan and Amy (Alan) Cawrse of New London; daughter in law, Lynn Dee of New London; 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Tim Dee in 2006 and a brother, Larry Dee in 2004. Friends may call 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., with a rosary service at 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 1, 2007 at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main St., New London. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 2, 2007 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 18 Park Ave., New London with Rev. Doug Taylor officiating.
