Obituary

Robert Elden Fleming, age 78, of Norwalk, died Thursday, July 26, 2007 in Norwalk after a valiant struggle with Parkinson's Disease. Mr. Fleming was born May 17, 1929 in Ruggles Twp., son of the late, Clarence Peter & Tena Pearl (Myers) Fleming. He was a lifelong resident of the New London and Ruggles areas. He was a 1947 graduate of Ruggles High School and had served in the Army National Guard and the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He had farmed most of his life. He worked at Shelby Air Depot, Lorain Ford Plant and Midwest Industries in Shelby where he retired in 2001. He was very proud of his very large family. Mr. Fleming loved farming and tractor pulls. He also enjoyed watching the Indians and Browns. He married Barbara Pauline (Oney) on October 14,1950 and they were married for 50 years. Robert is survived by his 5 daughters, Rebecca Pearl King of Ashland, Rhonda (Paul) Keck of Shiloh, Darlene Dawn (Gary) Marvicsin of Port Clinton, Phyllis Rochelle (Carl) Westmoreland of Willard and Kristina Renee (Jeremiah) Franks of Galion; 5 sons, Robert Lee (Kris) Fleming of Dublin, Terry Elden Fleming of Tuscon, AZ, Randolph Eugene (Josephine) Fleming of Swaziland, South Africa, Anthony Scott (Brenda) Fleming of Mansfield and Christopher Troy (Jana) Fleming of Polk; 33 grandchildren; 40+ great grandchildren; and a sister, Elizabeth 'Betty' (Bill) Harner of Ashland. He was preceded in death by a son, Perry Russell Fleming in 1974; and brothers, Marlin 'Pete', Clarence 'Junior', Ralph and Paul Fleming. Friends may call on Sunday, July 29 from 6-8 pm at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London, and on Monday from 1 pm until the time of funeral service at 2pm.
