Robert Duane Grose, Sr., 86, most recently of Willard, Ohio and previously of Tampa, Florida passed away on Monday, June 6, 2016 at Pristine Senior Living and Post-Acute Care of Willard.
He was born in Fayette County, West Virginia, to the late James and Effie (Steele) Grose. On January 10, 1949 Robert married the love of his life Allahaline Pritt.
Robert worked as a miner in the West Virginia coal mines then moved to Ohio where he worked at The Historical Grain Mill in Huron. He later moved on to work for New Departure in Sandusky, Ralph Walcher Farms in North Fairfield, and at US 20 Auto Parts in Norwalk.
He loved country music and was an accomplished mandolin player. He and his wife loved playing music for family and friends. Many gathered at their home just to hear them play and sing and would often join in. Many lessons were taught as he inspired others through music. He was always greeting everyone with a smile. If you did not have a smile he gave you his, most of the time with a joke. In later years, he enjoyed collecting and repairing lawn mowers.
Robert is survived by his children, Barbara (Marvin) Boyd of Clyde, Ohio, Linda (David) Felter of Norwalk, Ohio, Brenda (Ron) Malcolm of Mooresville, North Carolina, Robert (Jennie) Grose of Willard, Ohio, Florence Roxane Nutting of Seffner, Florida and Eric (Debbie) Grose of Mulberry, Florida and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Allahaline in 1998 and by his grandson, Christopher.
A visitation will be held from 11 am until the 11:30 am memorial service Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Ripley Church, 4130 South Edwards Road in Greenwich with Pastor Eric Robinson officiating. A gathering will follow the service at the North Fairfield American Legion, 523 State Route 162 East, North Fairfield.
