Robert L. Hopkins, age 84, of Greenwich died Friday morning, June 1, 2007 at his home
after a short illness. He was born December 29, 1922 in Greenwich, son of the late, Lincoln Ross and Gladys (Miller) Hopkins. He was a lifelong Greenwich resident. Mr. Hopkins was a 1941 graduate of Greenwich High School and a 1943 graduate of the Oberlin School of Commerce. He had worked for Ernst & Ernst in Cleveland as an accountant for 3 years, the LeRoi Corp. of Greenwich from 1946 until 1960 and in 1960 he and his wife started their own accounting business, the R.L. Hopkins Public Accounting in Greenwich. He retired in 1988. He was a member of the Greenwich United Methodist Church, the Greenwich Rotary, where he received the Paul Harris Fellow, May 1, 2007, he was a former Greenwich Township Clerk for 25 years, a former member of the Greenwich School Board, and he served on the Board of Directors of Willard Memorial Hospital and Hillside Acres Nursing Home, Willard.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne (Egner) Hopkins, whom he married October 10, 1943; 2 sons, Kenneth (Donna) Hopkins of Vermilion, Dan (Betty) Hopkins of Litchfield; a daughter, Cynthia (Paul) Keinath of Dublin, Ohio; 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Eleanor M. Foster and Jane E. Ferrell.
Friends may call from 2 ' 4 and 6 ' 8 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2007 at the Eastman Funeral Home, 49 West Main St., Greenwich where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday with Pastor Georgette Gaston of the Greenwich United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwich Greenlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Greenwich United Methodist Church, 18 E. Main St., Greenwich, Ohio 44837.
