Robert J. "Jack" Whitright, 77, of North Fairfield, Ohio passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at the Willows of Willard. He was born on May 8, 1944, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Robert and Gertrude (Tolmie) Whitright and graduated from New London High School.

Jack served his country as part of the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he served as a helicopter mechanic. He was a firefighter for many years in North Fairfield and was active in the Northern Ohio Fraternal Order of the Leatherheads Society (F.O.O.L.S.), North Fairfield American Legion, and the North Fairfield and Norwalk Historical Societies. He worked for Akron Standard Mold and Plymouth Locomotive and enjoyed reading, watching Jeopardy, the Cleveland Indians, and above all, he loved watching his grandchildren play sports, and other activities, whenever possible.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Charlene (Patton) Whitright; their sons, Robert "Bob" (Bettie) Whitright of Willard and John (Michelle) Whitright of North Fairfield; grandchildren, Emma, Ellie, Christopher, Alexis, Taylor and Blayke and great grandson, Steven, with another great grandchild on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Sunday, June 20, 2021, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, Norwalk, from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. where a service will be held on Monday, June 21, 2021, beginning at 10 a.m. with burial to follow in North Fairfield Cemetery with military honors.  Pastor Tim Nowlin will be presiding over the service on Monday morning.
