Robert "Bob" McConnell, 75, a lifelong resident of the area, passed away February 15, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born September 24, 1940 to the late Dare and Leona (nee Madigan) McConnell. Bob was a very caring and kind-hearted person. Everyone in Bob's family could share fond memories of how he had helped them at different points in their lives. He was a hard worker and always kept busy. He worked for New London Tile, Nickles Bakery, Ohio Body and Roth Manufacturing in New London and later Industrial Powders. He was handy and liked to "tinker", cut wood, and mow lawns for others. Bob helped people whenever they needed him, and he never expected anything in return. He is survived by his children James Michael (Angela) McConnell of Ashland, and Robert Dwayne (Janet) McConnell of Norwalk; grandchildren, Kali, James, Karl, Justin, Kevin and Alicia; siblings, Peggy Harris of Wellington, Pat Young of Nova, Richard McConnell of Grafton, Donald McConnell of Lorain and James McConnell of Sullivan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Lou Cail and brother Dare Edward McConnell. The family will greet friends at Eastman Funeral Home, New London on Friday, February 19, 2016 from noon until the time of the service at 2 pm. Burial will follow in Grove Street Cemetery, New London. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
