Robert E. Nestor, Sr., 76, of Wakeman, passed away July 10, 2011 at the Cleveland Clinic after a short illness. Born on October 28, 1934, to Joseph and Treva Nestor, Robert was Valedictorian of the 1952 Brighton High School Class, the last class to graduate from Brighton. A retired lifelong dairy and grain farmer, Robert also served in the National Guard. Robert was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching his grandchildren at their sporting events and showing their animals at the fair. He loved showing draft ponies at the Lorain County Fair and surrounding fairs. Robert belonged to St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Wellington and was a member of the Wellington Eagles and the NODPA Pony Club. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Sharon L. (nee White) Nestor; children, Vickie (Erwin) Slone of West Salem, Robert Nestor, Jr., of Wakeman and Debra (Kevin) Gott of Wellington; grandchildren, Savanna Slone, Bobby Nestor, Ryan Slone, Jakeb Nestor, Molly Nestor and Katie Young and his beloved dog, Max. Robert is also survived by his sisters, Betty (Stuart) Chase, of New London, Joanne (Merle) Parker, of Wakeman and Margaret DeRubba of Vienna. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Norbert Nestor and sisters, Norma Jean Jones and Mary Holbrook. A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Nestor family in care of Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington.
