Robert W. Scheid, age 71, of New London, died Thursday, January 1, 2009 at Fisher Titus Medical Center, Norwalk after a lengthy illness. He was born March 21, 1937 in Cleveland, son of the late William N. and Marguerite C. (Rielinger) Scheid. Mr. Scheid grew up in Cleveland, lived in Sandusky for several years and in New London for the past 10 years. He had served in the U.S. Army in the late 1950's. He had worked at Ford Motor Co. in Sandusky for over 25 years until his retirement. He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Patricia (Smith) Hendrickson Scheid; 1 son, Robert, 2 daughters Terry and Susanne; 5 stepchildren, Cheryl, Judi, William, Amy and Christine; 8 grandchildren and 11 step grandchildren; several brothers and sisters. There will be no services. Private burial will take place at a later time. Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main St., New London were in charge of arrangements.
