Robert (Robby) Ulm, 41, of Sebring, FL, died unexpectedly while visiting his family on Friday, April 3, 2009 in Matthews, NC.
He is survived by his wife Autumm Brown-Ulm and their son Austin, along with his children: Sarah, Jacob and Hannah Ulm of Ashland, OH. Also surviving, his mother Patricia (Cline) Schaffer, stepfather Floyd Schaffer, his brothers Dan and Patrick White of Ashland, paternal grandmother Ruth Cowie of Rochester, and many other beloved family members.
Preceded in death by his father, Roger Fred Ulm and maternal grandparents Henry and Mary Cline of New London.
Rob began playing golf with his dad when he was three years old and his love for the game only grew. Rob graduated from New London High School in 1986 where he was named MVP of the high school golf team all 4 years. He graduated from The University of Dayton in 1990 with a BS degree in industrial engineering technology and began his career in telecommunications, most recently working for Embarq in Avon Park, Florida.
Rob was a loving husband, an adoring father and a faithful friend who never met a stranger. He was passionate about many things: his love for all genres of music, his devotion to Ohio State and Cleveland Brown, and his enthusiasm for NASCAR racing, especially Mark Martin and Carl Edwards. Rob took pleasure in watching his children become young adults and was always attentive to their varied interests. Rob was in the process of passing along his eagerness for thrilling amusement park rides to his son, Austin. Golf was Rob's greatest passion and he recently changed his swing and had nearly perfected it. Although a fierce competitor, his approach to any game would always win a good sportsmanship award. He used his competitive nature to inspire his work team and create a fun and friendly work environment that became an extended family for Rob.
Friends and family visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 8 from 6 to 8 pm at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main St., New London, Ohio, where funeral services will begin on Thursday, April 9 at 11 am with Pastor Christine Bell officiating.
