Robert M. Underwood, Sr., 84, of North Fairfield, died Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Briarfield of Milan. He was born on July 5, 1925 in Fitchville. Robert graduated in 1943 from North Fairfield High School. He worked at New Departure in Sandusky for 30 years. Robert was a member of the Ripley Church in Greenwich. Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Ruth (nee Phillips); sons, John Underwood of Orange Park, FL, Jarold (Margaret) Underwood of Port Clinton, Robert (Joan) Underwood, Jr. of Greenwich and Mark Underwood of Port Clinton; 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Norma Jane Puder of Wakeman. Robert was preceded in death by his father, Monroe E. Underwood; mother, Olive J. (nee Powell) Hibbs; brother-in-law, Charles Puder and daughter-in-law, Rebecca Underwood. Friends and family will be received Thursday, February 25 from 6-8 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Ripley Church, 4130 South Edwards Road, Greenwich with Pastor David Cobb officiating.
