Robert E. Wallen, 82, of Rochester, died Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Kingston of Ashland. He was born January 11, 1929, in Floyd County, Kentucky and moved to Rochester in 1952.
He retired in 1991 from Sterling Foundry in Wellington after 42 years as a crane operator / molder.
Robert was a member of the Little Pilgrims Home Church Old Regular Baptist since 1961 and an Elder at the Old Regular Baptist Church since 1971. His life was spent serving the Lord and in fellowship with other Old Regular Baptist Churches. Robert enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Mary (Adkins) Wallen; children, Roxie (Dan) Hamilton of Nova, Sue (Jack) Prelipp of New London, Eddie (Alice) Wallen of Rochester and Bobby (Janice) Wallen of New London; 13 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren and sister, Roxie (Gene) Nichols of Rochester. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Eliza (Shepherd) Wallen; daughters, Diane Wallen and Joann Hunter; brother, Joe Wallen and great granddaughter, Angel Marie Wallace.
Friends may call 4-6 pm Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011 at Little Pilgrim Home Church, 1487 US Rte. 224 E., Greenwich, Ohio, with a service at 6pm. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Church. Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery, with a lunch at the church following. Memorials may be given to the family.
