Roger Edwin Stover, 62, of New London, died Sunday, March 25, 2012 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk after a short illness. Born January 11, 1950, in New London. He was a graduate of New London Class of 1968. After graduation he joined the apprenticeship through the Carpenters Union. Working for Jennings and Churella (19 yrs), early in his career he became a Project Superintendent. He continued that role while working 5 yrs with Wilson Bennett Construction (Cleveland) and 18 years with The Albert M. Higley Construction Co., serving the last seven years as the Operations Manager for the Columbus Office.
Roger attended LCCC, when his children were young. He was an NLHS school board member for 8 years, serving as President for 2 of those years. He was a member of the Fitchville United Methodist Church, a 32nd Degree past Master Mason, and a member of the Zenobia Temple Shriners.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling to the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail with his golf buddies. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, bowling, tennis, cards with the Marsh family, raccoon hunting and cooking. He was a huge Cleveland sports enthusiast who was always waiting for that championship run.
He was a loving husband of 41 years to Marie Stover (Trammell), and a supportive father to Shannon, Kelly, and Shawn Stover. He is survived by mother, Leah Stover, brothers, Rodney (Sherrill) Stover and David Stover; brother-in-law, Ronnie (Terri) Trammell and sister-in-law, Donna (Warren) Hammond. He shared a special family bond with Tom and Shirley McCoppin and Ted and Jane Marsh.
Preceded in death by father, Edwin Stover and brother-in-law, Bob Trammell.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 6-9 p.m. with a Masonic service at 8:30 p.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London, where services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. Donations in Roger's memory may be directed to the donor's choice.
