Rolland R. Burton, 87, of New London, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, December 8, 2024.  He was born on April 19, 1937, in Fitchville, Ohio, the son of the late Clarence and Helen (Wilson) Burton, Rollie remained an area resident and went on to live a life filled with love, service and cherished memories.

Rollie was a proud graduate of New London High School, Class of 1955.   He served in the National Guard for eight years, demonstrating a commitment to duty and country; he was an active member of the New London American Legion, where he routinely assisted with Veteran's funeral honors.  Rollie dedicated 34 years as a lineman with Firelands Electric Cooperative in New London, where he was a member of the IBEW Union Local #688.

A lifetime member of the Fitchville Conservation Club, Rollie found joy in the outdoors, particularly in trap shooting and golf, hobbies that reflected his love for precision and camaraderie.  Above all, Rollie cherished time spent with family.  Whether attending the sporting events of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren or simply enjoying a scoop of ice cream, he found happiness in the simple joys of life and the accomplishments of loved one.  Those who knew Rollie, know his love for ice cream.

Rollie is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Shirley (Byron) Burton; children, Lon (Chris) Burton of New London, Shawn (Tina) Burton of Medina, Vaughn Burton of Tampa, FL., and Dawn (Tony) Luedy of Greenwich; 8 grandchildren, Crystal, Diana, Emily, Debra, Kelly, Shawn, Cole and Morgan and 7 wonderful great-grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, Rollie was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanne Tester.
