'Rollen W. Hager, age 85, of Ashland, died Friday, March 20, 2009 at Samaritan Regional Health System, Ashland.''' He was born October 4, 1923 in Spencerville, Ohio, son of the late Vernon and Ruth (Walther) Hager.'' Rollen moved to Bellevue at an early age,' lived in Nova for 35 years, and Wellington for 2 ' years.''' He was a member of the class of 1942 at Bellevue High School.''' He was in the U.S. Army Air Corp. in the 331st Bomb Group, where he served in Guam during World War II.' ''He received his honorary diploma from Bellevue on December 10, 2002, since he served in the military prior to his high school graduation.'' He was a truck driver for a number of years.' He retired from' the Ohio Department of Transportation, Oberlin.' ''He loved to golf and play cards.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Shirley (Heisler) Hager, 'whom he married February 16, 1944;'' his children, Steve (Mary) Hager and Mark (Edy) Hager all of Ashland, Bruce (Linda) Hager of Wellington, 'Sheila (Sam) Chronister and Pam (Dave) Bright all of Hayesville, Ohio; 11 grandchildren;' 15 great grandchildren; his sister, Pauline (Russ) Orchard of Lima, Ohio, and former daughter in law, Connie Hager of Ashland.
'There will be no visitation.'' Private services will be held at a later date.''' Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main St., New London were in charge of arrangements.' Memorials if desired may be made to the Nova Fire Dept. in care of the funeral home.'
