Obituary

Rosalyn A. Cook, 84, of New London, died Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk. She was born in Fitchville to the late Milburn and Alice (Dignan) Mitchell and was a life long resident of the Fitchville and New London areas. Rosalyn graduated from New London High School in 1944. Rosalyn worked as a secretary for Bailey's Implement and K.B. Rowland Trucking Co., and she owned and operated with her husband Cook Equipment in Wellington. She also worked for the New London United Methodist Church, the New London Public Library and operated a kindergarten school with Marion Stoll. Rosalyn was an active member of the New London United Methodist Church, she and her husband sang in the choir, and she taught Sunday school. Rosalyn was a member of the New London Grange, Pomona Grange and was a charter member of the Avion Travelcade Club. Rosalyn delivered Meals on Wheels for several years. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, reading, cooking, playing piano and visiting with friends and family. Survivors include her 2 daughters, Charlotte (Ed) Dobrinsky of Pittsburg, PA and Chris (David) Porter of New London; 7 grandchildren, Shannon Britt, Amanda Walcher, Seth Thomas, Alice Dobrinsky-Henneman, Stacy Dobrinsky, Melissa James and Brandon Porter; 8 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Winifred Buderer ; brother-in-law, King B. Rowland; and several nieces and nephews. Rosalyn was preceded in death by her loving husband, Walter Ellis Cook in 2009, daughter, Janet L. 'Janny' Thomas; brothers, Lionel 'Jake' Mitchell, Barton Mitchell, Malcolm 'Bill' Mitchell, Clarence 'Bartsche' Mitchell, Don Mitchell and two infant brothers. Friends and family will be received 2-4 and 6-8 Wednesday at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London where funeral services will be held 10:00 am Thursday. Rev. Cathy Ake will officiate and burial will follow at Grove Street Cemetery, New London. Memorials if desired may be given to the New London Public Library, 67 S.
