Rose Korona DeNardo, age 100, formerly of Masontown, Pa. died peacefully at the Norwalk Memorial Home, Norwalk, Ohio on March 19, 2025.
She was born on September 13, 1924, at Wynn, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Albert Korona and Antoninia Zawilinsky.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Vincent Daniel DeNardo; brothers Joseph Korona, Frank Korona,Walter Korona and sisters Sophia Korona Kosnoski, Helen Korona Bill.
Surviving is a son Tony (Dennis) DeNardo and wife Donna (Gunderson) of Fish Creek, Wisconsin; daughter, Renee Kluding and husband Tom of Norwalk, Ohio; three grandchildren: Cara DeNardo Williams and husband Michael, Melissa DeNardo and partner Daniel Phleger, and Thomas J. McGookey; three great-grandchildren: Maja Williams, Anja Williams, Arlo Rey DeNardo Phleger and many nieces and nephews especially Frank (Bud) and Kathy Korona.
Rose was an active member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers, the Catholic Daughters of Americas Court Masontown 1623; affiliated with the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church (formerly All Saints), and Italian Women's Club; in Masontown, Pennsylvania.
Rose resided at the Fisher Titus Carriage House Assisted Living, Norwalk, Ohio (right around the corner from her daughter and son-in-law; Renee and Tom Kluding) since July 2019. Fondly called "Resilient Rose", she enjoyed the activities and the friendships of her Carriage House family. Rose loved the staff and said it was "one of the best decisions she has ever made".
Our family extends special thanks to the Norwalk Memorial Home staff, Southern Care Hospice Services, and ACC Adult Home Care who made her last few weeks comfortable.
Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, Norwalk, Ohio assisted with the preparation and transportation to Pennsylvania.
Family will receive friends at the Stephen R Haky Funeral Home, 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, Pa. at 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2025. A Celebration of Life mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 101 West Church Avenue, Masontown, Pa. Interment will follow at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or a charity of your choice in her memory.
