Rose Marie Sharpe (nee Doucet), 92, of Wellington, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2011. Rose was born in Utica, NY on December 31, 1918, the daughter of the late Jules and Anna Doucet.
She was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. She owned and operated The Gift Center in Wellington with her husband, Roy, from 1963 to 1979. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church. She enjoyed reading, crossword and jigsaw puzzles and playing pinochle.
She was devoted wife, mother and cherished grandmother. She was so adored by those that loved her. Rose is survived by three daughters, Linda (Larry) Simonson of Huntington, Christine Root of Johnstown, Colleen (Gary) Wetherbee of Wellington; one sister, Shirley Doucet of Utica, NY; eight grandchildren, Laura (Frank) Whitt, Trenton (Bianca) Simonson, Suzanne (Douglas) Pummell, Sherrie (Jonathan) Schuck, Shaune (Shannon) Simonson, Teresa (Michael) Berry, Julie (Kenneth) Goble and Jared Wetherbee; 18 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy, in 1984; and sisters, Julie Elder and Elaine Cheyne.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 24 from 4-8 p.m. at Saint Patrick Catholic Church, 512 N. Main St., Wellington, where a Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. with Father James Reymann officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
