Royce Leroy Johnston

August 22, 1943 – January 14, 2022

Royce Leroy Johnston, 78, of Greenwich, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 14, 2022.

Royce was born on August 22, 1943 in Willard, OH to the late George and Edna (Vanburen) Johnston, Sr.

Royce graduated from Greenwich High School as a member of the class of 1961. He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Greenwich, where he began attending at the age of 9. Royce was a very skilled handyman who eventually became self-employed. He was also the general caretaker for Edwards Grove Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. In his spare time, Royce enjoyed camping, collecting Western themed memorabilia and bicycles, and volunteering at Round Lake Christian Camp. His greatest joy of all was spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Royce had a great sense of humor and will be missed deeply by his loved ones.

Royce is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Janet (Cole) Johnston, whom he married on June 30, 1962; 2 daughters, Teresa Cooper of Ashland and Annette (Michael, Sr.) Ruffing of Attica; 7 grandchildren, Kassandra, Whitney, Trenton, Spencer, Michael, Jr., Ethan and Kaylei and 7 great-grandchildren, Zane, Mikah, Blake, Oaklynn, Sawyer, Alice and Skylar.

In addition to his parents, Royce was preceded in death by 6 siblings, Shirly Crist, George Johnston, Jr., Cindy Johnston and 3 siblings in infancy.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 from 4 pm to 7 pm at Eastman Funeral Home, 49 W. Main Street, Greenwich, OH 44837. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 11 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Edwards Grove Cemetery.
