Russell Leimbach, 92, of Wakeman, Ohio passed away peacefully at his son's residence in New London on Thursday, August 26, 2021.  Russell was born on May 5, 1929 in Wakeman, Ohio, the son of Lawrence and Eva (nee Peabody) Leimbach. On May 8, 1948, Russ married Shirley Franklin and together they enjoyed 62 years of marriage until her passing in 2010.

Russ' life followed many paths. He was a farmer, railroad fireman, mason, ran a plumbing and heating business in Wakeman followed by 20 years working for Ambassador College in Pasadena, CA, returning in the 1990s to do plumbing and heating again in Wakeman, Norwalk and Sandusky. Russ' Christian faith ran deep. He had a lifelong passion for reading--mainly the Bible and Christian authors like A. W. Tozer, C. S. Lewis, and N. T. Wright. He was an active member of the Kipton Community Church and the New London Ruritan.

Russ is survived by his children, Richard (Linda) Leimbach of Sheffield Lake, Susan (Robin) Webber of Menifee, CA and Bruce (Dana) Leimbach of New London; 8 grandchildren, David Leimbach, Stacy Garcia, Russell Leimbach, Laura Long, Julie Guerriero, Amy Richter, Morgan Mark, and Dane Leimbach; 15 great-grandchildren, and his half-sister Susan (Hite) Stith of Columbus.

In addition to his first wife Shirley, Russ was preceded by his second wife, Marie Schrader; his brothers Harold and John and sister Laurice Krueger.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021 from 5-8 p.m. at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main St. New London, OH.  The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 4, at 11:00 a.m. at the Kipton Community Church, 511 Kipton Street, Kipton, OH 44049 with Pastor Lee Stull officiating.  Burial will follow at Clarksfield Methodist Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be given to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.  Online condolences may be shared at www.eastmanfuneralhome.com.
