Russell D. Smith, "Mr. D", 69, of New London, died Friday, January 12, 2024 at Metro Health in Cleveland. Born on June 4 1954, in New London, he was the son of the late Virginia (nee Jennings) and Donald Smith. Russell grew up in Nova and was a graduate of Mapleton High School.

Russell retired from Precision Fittings in Wellington. He was a member of the Huntington AmVets Post 162, American Legion Post 8, and the Ashland Eagles Arie 2178. Russell loved fast cars and bikes and could be found riding in his Chevelle or on his trusted Harley.

Survivors include his loving wife of 20 years, Vickie (nee Knouse) Smith; step-son, Shawn (Brigid) Dennis, of Avon Lake; grandchildren, Bennie, Mikenzie, and Alyssa; and siblings, Roland (Nancy) Smith, Roger (Evelyn) Smith, Dale Smith, Pat (Judy) Smith, Chris (Jenny) Smith, Charlie (Gina) Smith, Regina Holbrook, and Sam (Karen) Smith.
