Obituary

Ruth Evelyn Anderson, 84, of New London, died Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Elm's Retirement Village in Wellington after a short illness. She was born in Sullivan on August 13, 1925, daughter to the late Howard W. and Katherine (nee Burton) Norris. Ruth lived in the Wellington and Sullivan areas and has resided in rural New London since 1945. She graduated in 1943 from Wellington High School. Ruth worked in the maternity ward at Oberlin Hospital for 20 years and retired in 1982. She worked with her husband on the family farm, and collected ceramic pig figurines. She was a member of the Huron and Lorain County Farmers Union, Butler Farm Women's Club and the New London Grange. Ruth was also a member of the New London Golden Agers. She proudly served as a 4H leader for 15 years. Ruth is survived by her loving husband of 65 years Fred; children, Thomas (Linda) Anderson of Wellington and Janet (Emmett) Lowe, Sr. of King William, Virginia. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Chris Clark, Nathan Anderson, Matthew Anderson, and Aaron Anderson; and five great grandchildren, Derek Devoe, Shelby Clark, Morgan Clark, Aleha Anderson and Alyssa Anderson. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Nancy Clark DeVoe; brother, James Norris and sister, Marian Morning. Friends and family will be received from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London, where services will be held 11 am Monday, May 24, 2010. Pastor Lea Mahan will officiate and burial will follow in the East Creek Cemetery, New London Twp. Memorials may be given to the Kidney Foundation, 2831 Prospect Ave., Cleveland, Ohio 44115.
