Ruth M. Krieg, age 91, of Ashland, passed away at her home surrounded by her family Friday, May 11, 2007. Her passing was brought on by natural causes during an extended period of failing health. She was born December 10, 1915 in Nova, Ohio, daughter of the late Perry and Clara (Storrow) Simonson. She was a graduate of Ruggles High School. On November 4, 1939 in the Old Stone Church in Cleveland, Ohio she married the love of her life, Warren F. Krieg. On their honeymoon they went to Niagara Falls on motorcycles. They lived in Cleveland until June, 1954, when they moved to a farm, next to the family farm where Ruth was born. She and Warren farmed and when he passed away August 21, 1960 she continued farming and raising five children. She had farmed for over 45 years and worked at National Latex, where she retired from after several years. In 1994 she retired from farming and moved to Ashland. Ruth was a member of the Ruggles Church and the neighborhood Happy Hour Club. She loved to fish and was an avid reader, but treasured traveling with her children most of all. Ruth was strong, independent, caring, helpful and loving. She was her children's best friend.
She is survived by her daughters, Beverly Oehling of Dillon, Montana, Mary Ann (Neil) Edwards of Ashland, Debra F. Krieg of Ashland; her son, Louis W. (Margie) Krieg of Loudonville; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; her brother, Robert (Shirley) Simonson of Nova; her sister, Virginia Frazier of Nova; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and special family member Becky (Anderson) Gilbert. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren F. Krieg; her daughter, Donna Jean Jackson, her grandson, Scott Warren Oehling, her sisters, Lucille Harpster and Dorothy Ciphers; her brothers, Perry Simonson and Oscar Simonson; her parents in law, Louis and Dorothy (Jaeger) Krieg.
Friends may call from 6 - 9 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2007 at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main St., New London where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2007. Pastor Martin Daly will officiate and burial will follow at the Rochester Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Rd., Ashland, Ohio 44805, The Humane Society of Ashland, P.O. Box 114, Ashland, Ohio 44805, or to the donors favorite charity.
