Ruth Meade, age 79, of Perrysville, Ohio, died Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Hospice of North Central Ohio after a lengthy illness. She was born December 28, 1929 in Flatwoods, West Virginia, daughter of the late Frank and Ethel (Gillespie) Westfall. Ruth moved to the Rochester area around 1941 and had lived in the New London area and most recently in Perrysville. She had worked at Fanny Farmer Candy Co. in Norwalk, at Goodwill Industries in Ashland and was the store manager in Wooster. Ruth was a member of the New London First Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing guitar.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Woodroe Meade; 3 daughters, Diane Hoyman, Judy Harris, Cheryl Petroff all of Nashville, Tenn.; 4 sons, Nick (Pamela) Petroff and John Petroff all of New London, Michael (Sandy) Petroff of Ghent, Ky., Rick (Mary) Petroff of Perrysville; 2 stepchildren, Phillip (Judy) Meade of Butler, Larry (Janet) Meade of Perrysville; many grandchildren and many great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Anita (Kenny) Nelson of Greenwich, Nancy (Bill) Gregory of Wellington, Eunice Bardis of New London, Shirley (Corky) Nichols of Chattanooga, Tenn.; 1 brother, Ralph (Patricia) Westfall of Savannah. She was preceded in death by her son, Keith B. Petroff, 2 stepsons, Cary and Darrel Meade.
Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 14, 2009 at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main St., New London with Dan Ux officiating. Burial will follow at Ashland County Memorial Park.
