Obituary

Ruth A. Ringler, age 84, of Greenwich, died Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at her home. She was born September 8, 1929 in Olmsted Falls, Ohio, daughter of the late Thomas A. and Helen (Schoenherr) Hickey. Ruth grew up in Olmsted Falls and moved to Ruggles Twp. where she resided most of her life. She was a graduate of Ruggles High School and attended St. Vincent Charity Nursing School. She was a very dedicated farmer's wife with many talents on the tractors. Ruth had worked at A & P Grocery Store, PAL camp cook, a bus driver and cook at St. Edwards Catholic School, Ashland, a cook at various restaurants in the area, catered many local events over the years and was a former owner of the PumpHouse Café in Ashland. She had attended St. Edward's Catholic Church, Ashland and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, New London. Ruth had been a member of the Ruggles Flower Club, Ruggles Grange, the Ladies Guild of St. Edwards. Ruth had often been a vendor at the Ashland Farmers Market. She enjoyed canning, baking, gardening, sewing, tea parties, trading antiques and going to auctions and entertaining in her home. Ruth took thousands of pictures and did many slide shows for reunions and their trip to Alaska. Ruth was active with the family Maple Syrup making and taffy pulls. She is survived by her husband of 64 ½ years Cortland Brooks Ringler; her children, Christine Sayre of Ashland, Jim (Julie) Ringler of Nova, Helen Kaye (Mike) Corwin, Ruggles; grandchildren, Angela Elizabeth Hyland, Jason James Fitz, Ryan James (Molly) Ringler, Brody Thomas Ringler, Audrey Brooke First, Dawson Joshua Williams; great grandchildren, Courtney Danielle Maeglin, Devin Jordan Hyland and Girum Ryan Ringler; great great granddaughter, Allyson Elizabeth Fenstenmaker; her siblings, Dennis (Laura) Hickey and Paul (MaryLou) Hickey all of Ashland, Don (Helen) Hickey of Savannah, Patricia Mumaw of St. Petersburg, Florida. She was preceded in death by her son, Cortland Thomas Ringler and her sister, Mary Ellen Bonfiglio. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2014 at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main St., New London. A Rosary will be recited at 8:00 p.m. Friday. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 19 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 18 Park Ave., New London, Ohio 44851 with Father Doug Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Ruggles Cemetery. Memorials if desired may be given to Hospice of North Central Ohio, Inc., 1050 Dauch Dr., Ashland, Ohio 44805.
