Obituary

Salvatore B. Oliva, 85, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2020 at home.  He was born on October 4, 1934 in Tunisia to the late Thomas and Catherine (Tranchida) Oliva.  Sal moved to Norwalk in 1973 from New York City, NY.

He was a plant manager in New London for both the former CE Ward Company and Kent Sporting Goods before retiring from Norwalk Furniture in 1996 where he worked as a material cutter for 13 years.

Sal was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. He was a lover of all things Italian.  He enjoyed traveling, fishing and sports, especially golf and baseball.  He was a big New York Yankees fan.

Survivors include his children, Thomas W. (Sallie) Oliva of Naples, FL and Catherine R. (Chris) Luce of Sugar Grove, OH; grandchildren, Samantha Oliva, Carrie (Nick) Prochazka, Colleen (Blake) Rodenberger; great grandchild, Mia Prochazka; siblings, Anthony (Marie) Oliva, Ben (Barb) Oliva and longtime companion Jill Weilnau.

In addition to his parents, Sal was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Patricia (Speer) Oliva in 1994 and sister, Patricia (Rooz) Bassiem.
