Samuel J. Lash, Jr., 93, of LaGrange, died Sunday, August 15, 2010 at the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky. Born on July 17, 1917, Samuel was a son of the late Samuel J. and Catherine Lash, Sr. During WWII, Samuel served in the Asiatic Pacific, East Indies and New Guinea during his years of military service in the Army Air Corp. Before moving to LaGrange, he was a resident of Cleveland for 42 years. Samuel retired from Forest City Foundry as a core maker after 28 years. He belonged to St. Patrick Catholic Church, Wellington and enjoyed working on cars and gardening. He leaves behind his 4 children, Robert (Kathy) Lash, of Cleveland, Samuel (Pat) Lash III, of North Olmsted, Debbie (Jerry) Reed, of LaGrange, Richard (Toni) Lash, of Amherst; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Samuel is also survived by sisters, Mary and Joanne. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret 'Betty' Lash; brothers, John and Joe; sister, Helen and grandson, Dennis, Jr. Friends and family will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington. Visitation will also be held on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 512 N. Main St., Wellington with Rev. James Reymann officiating. Interment with military rites will be held at River Road Cemetery, LaGrange.
