Sandra E. Knudsen, 80, of New London, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, June 14, 2019 at the Laurels of New London. Born on September 9, 1938 in Willard, the daughter of the late Charles and Estella (nee Wheeler) Sanders, she grew up in North Fairfield and has resided in New London since 1961. She wed Douglas G. Knudsen on October 20, 1961 and together they shared 55 years of marriage until his passing in 2017. Sandy was a homemaker and was a very active member of the New London Alliance Church. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. Sandy is survived by her children, Larry Knudsen, Terry (Jennifer) Knudsen, John (Tammy) Gregory, Connie (Stan) Reed, Rochelle (Willson) Baker, Linda (Rick) Hamilton and Jodi (Eric) Wilhelm; foster son, Carl (Teresa) Pittenger; 25 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and brother, Mike Sanders. In addition to her parents and husband, Sandy was preceded in death by grandsons, Seth Reed and Cory Puder. The Knudsen family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18 at the New London Alliance Church, 4625 State Route 162 E, New London where a service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Fitchville Cemetery.
