Scott Paul Wonders, 53, of Nova, died Monday, August 1, 2011 at his residence after a sudden illness. Born in Ashland on October 4, 1957, Scott was a life long resident of Ruggles. He was the vice president of the Mapleton graduating class of 1976 and took great joy in planning the class reunions every five years. Scott was a member of the National Championship FFA team competing in the small engines category in 1976. He graduated in 1980 from The Ohio State University with a bachelor's degree in Agriculture, majoring in Ag Mechanizations and Systems. He served his fellow farmers for many years with the Farm Service Agency. He was a Community Committee member from 1987-1995. In 1996 he was elected into the County Committee and served there until 2005. Scott was an Ashland County 4-H advisor for five years and served on the Farm Bureau Board of Trustees. He was also on the Ashland County Extension Advisory Council and served on the Ruggles Township Board of Trustees from 1994-1997. Survivors include his wife, Patricia (Fike), whom he married on March 24, 1984; his sisters, Jan Mushett of Norwalk, Marsha Gerhart of Ashland and Ann Wonders of Norwalk; stepmother, Eve Wonders of Ashland; mother-in-law, Mary Lou Fike of Ashland; sisters-in-law, Barbara Glenn of Mansfield, Beverly Fike of Sunnyvale, CA and Judy Fike of Ashland and several nieces and nephews. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Darwin and Doris (Tanner) Wonders, father-in-law George Fike, and three brothers-in-law Lynn Mushett, Mike Gerhart, and William Glenn. Friends and family will be received from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, August 4 at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior at the United Methodist Church of Savannah, 10 West Main Street, Savannah, Ohio with Pastor Adam Davis officiating.
