Shaun Griffiths Carmen, 34, of Charlotte, NC died Thursday, November 20, 2008 at Presbyterian Matthews Hospital in Matthews, NC. Born in Soul, Korea on March 31, 1974, Shaun was adopted by his parents, Bruce and Peg, when he was 6 months old. He lived in Mississippi and Wisconsin before settling in North Carolina. Shaun was a 1993 graduate of John Adams High School in South Bend, Indiana. He also attended Ball State University. Shaun worked at the Music and Arts Center in Charlotte, NC and most recently was a manager at the Music and Arts Center in Atlanta, GA. He enlisted in the Army in 2001. Shaun enjoyed target shooting and martial arts, where he was an instructor. He loved talking with his son on his laptop computer web cam. Survivors include his son, Matthew C. Carmen of TX; his father, Bruce Carmen of Charlotte, NC; his mother, Margaret Carmen of South Bend, IN; and his grandmother, Ramona (James) Hastings of LaGrange. Shaun is also survived by his uncles, Robert (Cindy) Carmen of Loomis, CA, James (Peg) Griffiths of ME, and Charles Griffiths of MA and his cousins, Christopher and Kimberly Carmen, and Kathy, Peter and Daniel Griffiths. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wayne Carmen, Lou and Mae Griffiths and an uncle, Paul Griffiths. Friends and family will be received from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday, November 25 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington, OH. Pastor Robert Bjelica will officiate the service and burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Northern Indiana Service Dogs, 1913-F N.
