Sheryl Marie Stafford, 72, of West Salem, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 27. Born on November 17, 1952, Sherry was the daughter of the late George and Marie (nee Marks) Stafford. She grew up in Cleveland before moving to West Salem in the mid 90's.
Sherry served as a dispatcher for the Cleveland Police Department for several years, retiring in 1993 to raise her children. She had a heart of gold and regularly donated to charities throughout her life. She was a caregiver to her beloved mom for several years and was dedicated to helping her many friends in the Amish community. Most of all she cherished her two daughters who brought her such joy. Sherry had a feisty, determined spirit and loved animals, joking around, and surprising her loved ones with gifts.
She leaves behind her daughters, Kristen (Michael) Moeschl, of Medina, and Kassandra Sikora, of Shaker Heights; her partner, Scott A. Hanten; and sisters, Deborah Nemeth and Sheila Demeter. Sherry was preceded in death by her brothers, George Jr., and Gregory Stafford.
Friends and family will be received on Saturday, May 31, at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main Street in Wellington, starting at 8:30 a.m until the time of a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick Catholic Church which will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park.
