Shirley J. Cawrse, 79, of New London, died Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the Laurels of New London. She was born June 7, 1937 in New London, daughter of the late Gardner (Chuck) and Frances (Stocking) Delamater. Shirley had been a lifelong resident of New London. She was a 1955 graduate of New London High School. Shirley trained in Cleveland as a medical assistant. She had been a medical assistant for Dr. Otto Lanka after graduation, then the secretary to the principal for the New London Elementary School, and as the bookkeeper for C & F Construction Co. and then for Expresslane Oil Change in Eylria until she retired. Shirley was a member of the Fitchville United Methodist Church. She is survived by her children, Susan (Jeff Montgomery) Bilton and Beth O'Dell; special daughter, Dorothy Kinnel; grandchildren, Chad, Eric and Sara Bilton, Zack and Carl Parr; 9 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way; siblings, Gloria (James) McGlamery of Elyria, Pat Ritchey of Kenton and Kathy (Richard) Walter of New London. She was preceded in death by Carl Cawrse; son-in-law, Lance O'Dell and a brother-in-law, Dave Richey. Family services will be private.
