Shirley Ann Smith, 74, of Wellington, died Monday, September 13, 2010 at Elyria Memorial Hospital. She was born in Lodi on January 29, 1936 to the late Clarence and Mary Swope.
Shirley was a very passionate friend to all who knew her, a very passionate and caring mother and grandmother, who loved spending her spare time with her children and grandchildren. She was relentless at making sure her family was taken care of, even after they had families of their own. Shirley also loved her flower gardens, enjoying the outdoors, playing bingo and cards with friends, and putting together jigsaw puzzles. She was a gifted cook and waitress who served a lot of people at Wilczak's in Wellington and also at the Litchfield Truck Stop.
Shirley leaves behind her eight children, Treasa (Dave) Williams, Rick (Mindy) Naylor, Jerry (Connie) Naylor, Allen (Michelle) Naylor, Chris (Dean) Poling, Hope Smith, Kerry Smith, Tina (Jeff) Corn, 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She is also survived by 4 stepchildren, 6 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings; Butch, Paul, Bill, Chuck, Ida Bell, Dorothy, Francis and Donna.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 4 p.m. ' 6 p.m. with a memorial service at 6 p.m. and a dinner following service at the Penfield Community Church, 40775 St. Rte. 18 with Pastor Chris Reutepohler officiating.
