IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sidney Lee
Jordan
November 28, 1939 – June 16, 2024
Sidney Lee Jordan, 84, went home to his eternal resting place June 16, 2024. He was born on November 28, 1939 to Louise (nee Beauchamp) and Russell Jordan.
He grew up in Wellington and graduated from Wellington High School in 1957. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he was stationed in San Diego and Long Beach, CA. While in the Navy, he married his high school sweetheart, Ardith Jewett on November 7, 1959. He was honorably discharged from the Navy on November 21, 1960.
After he served in the Navy, he and Ardith made their home in Wellington where they had three children and lived their first decade of marriage. They moved to a small farm in Nova in 1970 where the family raised sheep and a few ponies.
Sid was a journeyman electrician for IBEW Local 129 in Lorain where he worked with Atlas Electrical Construction, retiring on June 30, 2000. Sid loved the outdoors and was an avid deer and turkey hunter, spending countless hours calling turkeys or in the peace and quiet of a tree stand on a quest for a trophy buck. For many years, he made annual trips to the hunting lodge in south central Pennsylvania with his friends. He and Ardith made several annual trips to the Kentucky Derby in the spring and the Fiddlers Convention in Galax Virginia with "The Gang" from Elyria.
Sid will be remembered for his strong work ethic and his dry sense of humor. He had a proven green thumb as he raised a bountiful vegetable garden and raised a variety of beautiful flowers. He also enjoyed playing cribbage every week after retirement. He was supportive of his children and grandchildren's activities, traveling numerous miles and spending countless hours on the sidelines, in the stands or concert halls. He spent many summers coaching baseball for the Ruggles Troy Youth League. Sid was a member of Nova United Methodist church and was also a standing member of the Order of the Eastern Stars Garfield Chapter #324, and a lifetime member of Wellington Lodge #127. He also would contribute to the community he grew up in through Well Help.
"Pop-Pop" is survived by his children, Susan (Mark) Morano, of Lorain, Terri (Tom) Banks, of Spencer, and Mark (Melinda) Jordan, of Westfield Center; Sister, Carol Adkins, of Norwalk; Grandchildren who adored him dearly, Nicole (Ryan) Scott, Anthony (Christina) Morano, Andrew (Jessica) Morano, Katie(Jason) Bias, Nate (Katie) Jordan, Alaina (Adam) Michel, Janelle (Zac) Jordan-Morgan and Mckenna (Brad) Greely; eleven great grand-children; and his cat, Max.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Ardith; parents; sisters, Doris Styer and Esther King; and Grandson, Ryan Poznako.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 24, from 7-9 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main Street, Wellington with a brief Masonic Service beginning at 9 p.m. Friends and family will again be received on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington with Military Honors.
