Sophie E. Stursa, age 91, of Wellington, died Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at The Elms in Wellington after a lengthy illness. She was born February 17, 1918 in Washington County, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Mary (McLoda) and John Hensel, Sr. Sophie had lived in Wellington since 1995. She had worked as a hospital aid. She loved to garden, travel and go to garage sales. She is survived by her children, Gwen (Howard) Haskin of Westfield, N.Y., Carol (Don) Mosier of Erie, Pa., Donna (J.R.) Anderson of Westfield, N.Y. and Frank (Barb) Stursa of Wakeman; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; her sister, Agnes Barber of Wellington; her brother, Charles Hensel of Polk. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Stursa, her son, Larry Stursa, her sisters, Pauline Kurtz, Mary Mraz, Margaret Vlk, Ruth Hill; her brother, John Hensel, Jr. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held March 21, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Westfield, New York. Memorials if desired may be given to Elms Activities, c/o Activities Fund, 136 S.
