IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Stanton E
Taylor
December 11, 1933 – July 1, 2022
Stanton E. Taylor, 88, of Willard, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on July 1, 2022 at home with his family following a recent accident.
Born in 1933 to the late Joseph and Myrtle (Duplisea) Taylor, Stanton was raised on a small mountainside farm in Dixfield, Maine where he remained until graduating in 1951 and marrying his first wife in 1952. Post graduation he worked alongside his father and brother, Dewey, at Stowell-MacGregor (division of Coates and Clark) in Dixfield, Maine, where they manufactured spools.
In 1968, Stanton relocated to Norwalk, Ohio after being hired as a machine operations manager for R.F. McCrillis, a local wood-working company with operations in Norwalk and Shelby, Ohio. He later went on to learn the trade of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and worked for Engle's Service Company. He moved to Willard, Ohio in 1973, where he joined the Church of the Master and started his own HVAC business, Stan's Service Company. In addition to owning and operating Stan's Service Company, Stanton also taught adult education HVAC courses at Pioneer Joint Vocational School. Stanton was practical and enjoyed the simple things in life, particularly his wildflowers and the squirrels who frequented his back yard in search of table scraps. He created secluded sitting spots where he would sit and record his thoughts. In fact, it was not unusual to come across an old napkin or magazine he'd scribbled on, yielding a poem or a portion of what would later become a short story.
A self-taught musician before the age of 10, Stanton had a passion for music and managed to play virtually any instrument with strings. He learned to play the bagpipes while living in Maine and was part of the Highland Bagpipe Corps. He also performed in a number of local theater productions and bands where he often brandished one of his own hand-crafted or refurbished stringed instruments, some of which remain nameless. A family favorite is the fiddle painted in John Deere green and yellow colors.
In addition to his parents and wife, Stanton was preceded in death by his siblings Edith and Dewey, a son, Richard, and granddaughter, Annaleah. He is survived by 5 children, Victoria Taylor, Christie (Ed) Phelps, and Cameron (Kathy Bliss) Taylor, Stanton (Carmella) Taylor, Lynne (Tony Moore) Bayley, as well as 11 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate Stanton's life will take place Saturday, July 9, 2022 at the Church of the Master in Steuben, Ohio with Pastor Dan Caudill as the officiator. Visitation will take place at 11:00 AM with the service to follow at 12:00 PM.
