Stella I. Knapp, 97, of Wellington, died Monday, May 10, 2010 at the Elms Retirement Village in Wellington. Born to the late Ray Taylor and Mercy Agnes (nee Gaines) Heath on July 6, 1912 in North Ridgeville, Stella lived most of her life in the Pittsfield and Wellington areas. Stella was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. She was a member of the Saymore Club and was the oldest living member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit #12, Elyria. Survivors include her children, Sharlene (LeRoy) Brasee, of Wellington, Charles Knapp, of Wellington, Allen (Glenna) Knapp, of Elyria, Willard 'Bill' (Carol) Knapp of Elyria; daughter-in-law, Alice Knapp, of Wellington; 25 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren. Stella is also survived by a brother, John Heath of Valley City, ND. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin H. Knapp, Sr. and 2 sons, Calvin H. Knapp, Jr. and Eugene R. Knapp. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 13 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington where funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at the Pittsfield East Cemetery.
