Obituary

Steven Ray Hicks of Clyde, OH (formerly of Greenwich and North Fairfield), born June 28, 1969, to Johnnie and Cora Hicks in Willard OH, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Steve was a 1987 graduate of South Central High School/EHOVE where he excelled in football and baseball. He was an exceptional pitcher and a four year letterman. After school he went on to work for Midwest Industries for sixteen years and developed many close friendships with coworkers. Steve was a man whose kindness and humor touched countless lives. He never met a stranger, and his warm spirit made everyone feel welcome from the moment they met him.

Steve was passionate about baseball and spent his childhood playing. He also spent many years coaching not only his three children but also many others in the community in the Greenwich Area Youth Leagues and South Central Varsity Softball Team. Whether on the field or off, he had a gift for guiding, encouraging, and lifting up those around him. He was an avid Ohio sports fan, and enjoyed watching Cleveland Guardians, Browns, Cavaliers and The Ohio State University football.

For 38 years, Steve shared a devoted and loving life with his wife, LaDonna Hicks (Oney). Together, they built a home filled with laughter, resilience, and deep, enduring love.

Steve was reunited in Heaven with his son, Jordan Hicks; his sister, Sarah Hicks; father and mother-in- law Virgil and Ruth Oney, brothers-in-law Dan (Regina) Whitaker, Linzie (Sally) Oney, sister-in-law Louanna (Don) Hall, niece Deanna Bowling; nephew Claude Whitaker; several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins; and his best friend, Mike Jewel.

He is survived by his beloved wife LaDonna Hicks (Oney) of Clyde, OH; his daughter Emily (Caleb) Logan of Clyde, OH; his son Ian Hicks of Shelby, OH; and his treasured grandchildren Ayva Hicks, Quentyn Hicks, Bailey Hicks, Cameron Logan, Colton Logan and Hunter Fortune. He is also survived by his parents Johnnie and Cora Hicks of Greenwich, OH, his brother Kevin Hicks of Greenwich, OH. He is also survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law: Judy Starcher and husband Richard of Greenwich, OH; Regina Noble of Greenwich, OH; Lanny Whitaker and wife B.J. of Ashland, OH; Alma Carney and husband Joe of North Fairfield, OH; Rita Bowling and husband Dee of New London, OH; and April Graves and husband Ron of New Bern, NC; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and his dear friends Larry and Amy Bailey of Stanton, KY.

Above all, Steve loved being a Dad and a Pop. His children and grandchildren were his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. His presence—steady, funny, gentle, and full of love—will be missed beyond measure. His legacy of kindness, humor, and unwavering love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
