Steven L. Metro, age 74, of New London died peacefully on Sunday, November 3, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born December 21, 1949, in Cleveland, he graduated from the Max Hayes Trade School in 1969. In 1991 he would move to New London with his family.

After retiring from Kent Sporting Goods, Steven spent the rest of his life self-employed for Small Engine Service. He was an incredible mechanic, and many appreciated his careful work. Steven particularly enjoyed working on tractors and attending a variety of tractor shows. He was a member of F.A.R.M. Inc., Buckeye Wheel Horse Collectors Club, and the LaGrange Engine Club, just to name a few of the many antique tractor show clubs and organizations that he was involved with.

In addition to his love of tractors, Steven was passionate about a variety of other outdoor endeavors as well. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, and cooking. He especially enjoyed these things if he was able to do them with his family, as family was ultimately the most important thing in Steven's life.

Left to cherish Steven's memory are his beloved wife, Deborah (Goshorn), whom he wed on September 26, 1981; two sons, Stephen (Amanda) Metro of North Fairfield, and Joe (Shelley) Metro of Norwalk; and grandsons, Connor, Colton, and Wessen Metro.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Mabel (Scargill).

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London, OH 44851. A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Killgrove officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the Huron County Humane Society.
